Federal Agencies Release New Disability Guide For Employers

DisabilityOn February 3, at a Summit on Disability and Employment, the White House announced the release of a new resource guide for employers called “Recruiting, Hiring, Retaining and Promoting People with Disabilities.” The guide was a product of the Curb Cuts to the Middle Class Initiative – a federal cross-agency initiative working to increase equal employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

“The goal of this guide is to help employers implement commonsense solutions to ensure that people with disabilities, like all Americans, have the opportunity to obtain and succeed in good jobs and careers.”

The guide provides employers with information on:

  • Best practices for recruiting candidates with disabilities,
  • Best practices for respecting, retaining and promoting employees with disabilities, and
  • Best practices for providing reasonable accommodations.

In addition, the guide gives employers a breakdown of the laws affecting their businesses and a list of federal resources related to the employment of people with disabilities.

Employers can view the new resource guide HERE.
